Tura 2019 National Sales Meeting Concludes With A Touch Of Magic

Tura Inc. is a leading optical design house based in Manhattan. They have won multiple awards as the best frame company and their brand portfolio includes Buffalo David Bitton, Tura, Tura by Lara Spencer, Kate Young for Tura, Ted Baker, L.A.M.B., gx by Gwen Stefani, Lulu Guinness, Brendel, Geoffrey Beene, Humphrey’s and TITANflex.

On April 6, 2019 they held their 2019 National Sales Meeting at the beautiful Grand Hyatt Denver in Denver, CO. With 120 people in attendance, they needed a way to close their event on a high note. That’s where I came in.

As a corporate entertainment specialist, I started the evening with mingling close-up magic during the cocktail reception which created a buzz throughout the room. After dinner I performed a 50-minute set of magic, mentalism, and motivational storytelling. The night was a hit, and they honored me with multiple standing ovations. It was a heartfelt way of showing their appreciation, and it certainly did not go unnoticed by me.

Everyone at Tura was a delight to work with, and it was evident that this company has a company culture that feels like family. Tura has figured out how to connect with their employees, and make everyone feel cared about and appreciated. It was a great fit, since the underlying message of my show is that of human connection.

If you’re looking for a way to connect your company to your employees and clients, contact me. I’d love the opportunity to help you create an event where everyone feels appreciated.

Magic Extravaganza at Machinima Holiday Event

Back on December 14th I had the opportunity to put together a Magical Extravaganza for the fine people at Machinima. The client wanted a Magic Castle style event for their employees, so I put together a team of some of the best magicians in Southern CA. Joe Skilton, Zach Waldman, and Steve Wastell joined me in putting together an amazing night.

My wife, Dee Dee, was on hand to ensure everything went smoothly, and she manned the camera for my performance. The video above give you a glimpse into this extraordinary night.

A huge thanks goes out to my client, Jason Frizado, for trusting me to put on a spectacular night of magic, mentalism, and comedy!

Corporate Entertainment Conference in Costa Rica

This month Dee Dee and I had the opportunity to attend Act Up; a corporate entertainment training conference. This event was hosted by David Hira and Mike Arthur in the beautiful country of Costa Rica! Five days of training in an idyllic setting of the Rio Perlas Hotel situated in Orosi, Cartago, Costa Rica.

Although I can't share the specific things I learned at this conference, I can tell you that it had a profound impact on how I look at my business, my clients, my show, and my audience. Most conference are educational. For me this conference was TRANSFORMATIONAL

Coming from me, this is high praise, when you consider I've studied marketing and business development for longer than I've studied magic. I've attended dozens of conferences, studied countless books and courses, and I've even received private coaching from some of the most successful entertainers in this business. Since 2009 I've sold my own marketing and business development course for magicians, and I've coached countless other entertainers on succeeding in this business of entertainment.

With all this knowledge and experience, you'd think I'd know everything there is to know about this business. Not so. Some of the business insights I received from David Hira are things I've never heard anyone else talk about. Others were presented in a way that made me realize I wasn't doing things to the best of my ability. The insights I received from Mike Arthur on presentation techniques have helped me connect with my audiences in a way I never have before. All of this in less than a week!

You might ask how I've been able to see results in such a short period of time. For those who know me well, you realize I'm a person who takes action. As I often share with my coaching clients, "To know and not do is to not yet know." There is something about the process of "doing" that cements the knowledge in your brain, and it's only in the process of taking action that one sees results.

Knowledge without actions is completely useless. it’s only in the implementation of that knowledge that creates something of value.

Aside from all the valuable knowledge I gained throughout the week, there was value in sharing the experience with other like-minded performers and soaking in all we could of the Costa Rican landscape.

Adventures in Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Adventures in Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Last week Dee Dee and I had the pleasure of performing for Enrich Software in Calgary, AB, Canada. On the morning of June 9th I gave a keynote speech to the attendees of their user conference, and that evening Dee Dee and I performed an after-dinner stage show.

We also had couple of days to explore the city. Although it rained on Saturday, it didn't stop us from touring the city and dining at some fine restaurants. Sunday was a beautiful day and we were able to explore Prince's Island via bicycle.

The city was beautiful, and for the most part the people were very nice. We hope to visit again when more time permits. The accompanying video captures some of the highlights.

Last week Dee Dee and I were hired to perform in Tahiti on board the Wind Star's sailing ship the Wind Spirit. Corporate Magician & Mentalist Lou Serrano on Masters of Illusion

A few years ago Dee Dee and I had the opportunity to shoot a couple of segments for the TV show, Masters of Illusion. Although most of our shows are for corporate events, it's always a treat when we have the opportunity to perform on a television show.

(Click on the images below to enlarge.)

We just received footage from one of our routines, and we're still waiting for the footage that features Dee Dee. We hope to receive that footage soon.

In the meantime, I wanted to share an excerpt of one of my routines entitled, Ubiquitous. It's a three phase mind-reading and mentalism routine that leads to a seemingly impossible conclusion.

Enjoy, and if you know of anyone who can use some world-class entertainment for an upcoming corporate or social event, please pass along our contact info.

Corporate Magician Barely Avoids Killing Spectator On Stage

How's that for an attention getting headline? If you watch the video below, it will all make sense.

Over the weekend, Dee Dee and I performed our 45-minute magic show for a corporate audience at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel. ReShape Medical was celebrating their FDA approval of their non-surgical weight-loss solution. It's been an overnight success that took ten years to accomplish. The people at ReShape Medical certainly had a reason to celebrate as their weight-loss solution is a first-of-its-kind, and we were happy to add a touch of magic to the festivities.

We had a great time performing for a very enthusiastic crowd, and the following clip was taken from that show.

If you're looking for world-class entertainment for your next corporate function, give us a call. We have a program to fit almost every need.

Pictures From A Recent Gig - Magic, Fire Eating, and an LAPD Lieutenant

As a professional Los Angeles magician, I perform at many events where there is a professional photographer taking pictures of the event. Most of the time I will ask if I can get a copy of some of the pictures. They almost always say yes, but they rarely come through in the end. Maybe they're just too busy, and I'm not a priority in their busy schedule. Once in a while a client will surprise me and actually send me copies of the photos. This was the case with the following pictures.

Dee Dee and I had performed at a retirement party for LAPD Lieutenant (Ret.), Lionel Garcia, and he surprised me with a batch of pictures from the event. The following photo is my favorite. I love the detail that was captured of the flames.

Fire eating at the opening of my show.

The photographer was able to get photos of not only our stage show, but also some pictures during the cocktail hour while I was performing some strolling magic.

Since most of my performance photos are taken with an iPhone, I'm always amazed at the clarity and the detail that is captured from a professional photographer with professional equipment.

Review of Corporate Entertainer Lou Serrano

I was recently hired to perform for the CA Children's Rehabilitation Foundation (CCRF) fundraiser which was held at the the Long Beach Hyatt in Long Beach, CA. In attendance were some very prominent people in the medical field, and a significant amount of money was raised for a very worthy cause. CCRF helps support the ever-increasing needs of young children and adolescents going through pediatric rehabilitation.

I was grateful to have been hired as the after-dinner entertainment, and although I was feeling a bit under the weather at the time, I gave what I thought was one of my finest performances, and I was honored with a full-room standing ovation by the attendees. It's always a nice feeling when people appreciate the results of the hard work that I put into delivering a top-notch show.

The Founder and President of CCRF, Dr. Kimberly BeDell, along with board member Sharon Nordheim were gracious enough to share their thoughts of my presentation immediately afterwards.

Los Angeles Magician Provides Unique Corporate Entertainment

empty corporate stage.jpg

As a corporate entertainer I'm hired to perform at a wide variety of events in very different industries. Every event is unique with its own set of challenges. Some nights I might be performing my full stage show for several hundred people, and other nights I may be performing a very intimate show for a group of ten people. Luckily, I enjoy the diversity of performances, and I welcome the challenges that come with delivering a performance that meets and exceeds the expectations of my customers.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to perform a 30-minute close-up magic show for a group of twenty CEOs from several Los Angeles based companies. This was a group of very sophisticated, intelligent, and successful people who were incredibly receptive to my performance. The show consisted of sleight-of-hand magic with small objects combined with a mind reading showpiece. The reaction was fantastic with everyone talking about what they had just witnessed long after I was done.

Sometimes these small shows end up being my favorite (probably because of the ease of interaction and engagement with the attendees) and this event was no exception. My client was thrilled with the response, and one of the attendees offered his thoughts in the accompanying video.

If you have an upcoming event and would like to WOW your attendees, please give me a call. I have several entertainment options available to meet almost any need.

The End Of An Era

Mo's Restaurant in Burbank, CA opened its doors in 1995. Famous for its burger bar and champagne brunch, I've been the house magician there since 1997. Friday nights and Sunday brunch were my nights for performing.

Strolling close-up magic is the term normally used for the type of magic I performed. After people would place their orders and before they got their meal, I'd stop by and entertain the patrons for a few minutes.

Throughout the the years I've developed friendships with patrons and staff. I've watched children grow up into adults and bring their own children to see me perform. Some customers would come by week after week to see a new routine I had been working on, or they would bring their friends to witness the close-up miracles they had experienced.

Many customers have hired me to be the featured entertainment at a wide variety of private social events such as birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, bar mitzvahs, and holiday celebrations to large corporate events such as trade shows, awards banquets, sales meetings, and wrap parties.

Warner Brothers, Disney, and NBC studios are all within walking distance of the restaurant, and I've provided corporate entertainment at various events for all three companies.

For the past 18 years, Mo's has been my home. Throughout my trials and tribulations as a full-time professional magician, I knew I could go home and share my passion of magic with the patrons.

This past Sunday, Mo's closed it's doors for the very last time. It's the end of an era.

But like the Phoenix, the legendary bird that rises from the ashes, there is a new restaurant opening its doors in the same location.

The Continental has its grand opening this Wed. Feb. 25, 2015, and I'm happy to say I'll be back performing my special brand of table side magic every Friday night from 7 to 9 P.M. and Sunday brunch from 11:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. If I'm lucky, maybe I'll last another 18 years.

The Continental is located at 4301 Riverside Dr., Burbank, CA 91505. It has a swanky vibe to it, and the food and service is sure to outclass it's predecessor. If you're in the area, stop by, check it out, and be sure to ask for the house magician (me) to visit your table.
