Wedding Magician in Los Angeles

A magician at a wedding? It's more popular than many would imagine. Every year I perform at half a dozen weddings, and it's always a big hit.

This past Saturday night Dee Dee and I had the pleasure of performing at a beautiful Indian wedding held at the Pacific Palms Resort in the City of Industry.

The beautiful stage prior to arrival of the guests.

Most often I'm booked to perform strolling close up magic during the cocktail reception, but this time around I was also hired along with Dee Dee to perform our after-dinner stage show. This is a highly visual and interactive show featuring levitations, escapes, and mind-reading demonstrations.

We had an audience of almost 200 people, and the bride and groom sat front and center. It was a great time, and it was the perfect way to get the party started as after the show the guests danced late into the night.

If you're looking to add some unique entertainment that will engage your guests at your wedding reception, please give me a call. We'd love to add a touch of magic to the festivities!

Magic at Padua Hills Theater

This past Friday night I was hired to perform at the 50th birthday party for Dr. James Lilly. With 100 guests in attendance, the event was held at the beautiful Padua Hills Theater in Claremont, CA. With its olive tree-lined patios, peaceful setting, and Spanish Colonial buildings, the Padua Hills Theater was the perfect setting for an elegant evening.

With everyone dressed to the nines and in a festive mood, the evening started with strolling close-up magic during the cocktail reception. Immediately following cocktails all the guests were escorted into the theater for dinner featuring the fine cuisine from Chanterelles Catering

Once the tables were cleared, the guests were ready for the show. I performed a combination of magic and mind reading to a very appreciative and responsive crowd. Sound and lighting was provided by Entertainment Express, and they did an excellent job with getting the lighting cues with very little direction.

The following photos were taken by Curtis at Enchanted Portraiture, the in-house photographer for the Padua Theater. Specializing in wedding and engagement photography, he did a stellar job of capturing some of the more magical moments of the show. You can get more information on his services at

While I was there, I was able to get a fantastic video review from one of the staff members of the Padua Hills Theater which you can see below.

Los Angeles Magician Performs At Kool And The Gang After Party

As a professional Los Angeles magician, I never really know for whom I'll be performing when I get hired to perform at an event. Last week I was hired to perform a couple of hours of world-class strolling close-up magic at a private event. It turned out that funk/jazz/R&B/pop band, Kool And The Gang, was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. You can read the story here: Kool And The Gang Honored With A Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame.

I was hired to perform at the after-party where 250 guests were invited to celebrate such a great honor. Family, friends, and prestigious members of the entertainment industry were all in attendance, and were all very receptive to my special brand of close-up magic.

The party continued long after the I left the premises, but I'm grateful for the opportunity to have entertained such a great group of people.

A Private Performance For Author and Humanitarian, Pat Montandon

Google is an amazing tool. Once in a while I will Google search a client, and sometimes I'm pleasantry surprised to find out who my clients really are.

A few days ago I received a call from a woman who was interested in hiring me for a private party at her home. She was very pleasant over the phone, and she spoke with an eloquence that I found intriguing. She agreed to hire me for a very intimate performance for about a dozen people.

Her name is Pat Montandon, and after a brief Google search, I found that she's had an illustrious life and career. As a humanitarian, she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize three years in a row.

She is also the author of numerous books, and In 2014 she released her second memoir entitled "Peeing On Hot Coals". (How's that for a title?)

With Pat Montandon after my show at her home in Beverly Hills.

On Wednesday night I performed the show for a very attentive audience at her home in Beverly Hills. She is such a sweet lady, and her guests included her son, Sean Wilsey (an accomplished author himself), and her grandchildren. I was also surprised to see Molly Shannon (best known for her work as a cast member on Saturday Night Live) in attendance who was very gracious with her praise of my show.

I love getting to know my clients, and hearing about their accomplishments. I find it inspiring, and I use that inspiration as motivation to create greater levels of success in my own career as a magician, keynote speaker, and business consultant to other entertainers. I have to admit, I love my job, and I'm always grateful for the opportunities that come my way.

Pictures From A Recent Gig - Magic, Fire Eating, and an LAPD Lieutenant

As a professional Los Angeles magician, I perform at many events where there is a professional photographer taking pictures of the event. Most of the time I will ask if I can get a copy of some of the pictures. They almost always say yes, but they rarely come through in the end. Maybe they're just too busy, and I'm not a priority in their busy schedule. Once in a while a client will surprise me and actually send me copies of the photos. This was the case with the following pictures.

Dee Dee and I had performed at a retirement party for LAPD Lieutenant (Ret.), Lionel Garcia, and he surprised me with a batch of pictures from the event. The following photo is my favorite. I love the detail that was captured of the flames.

Fire eating at the opening of my show.

The photographer was able to get photos of not only our stage show, but also some pictures during the cocktail hour while I was performing some strolling magic.

Since most of my performance photos are taken with an iPhone, I'm always amazed at the clarity and the detail that is captured from a professional photographer with professional equipment.

A Fantastic End To The Month For Corporate & Social Entertainer Lou Serrano

May ended up being the busiest month of the year so far with 22 events booked all across Southern CA. Although the month was a blur of social and corporate events, the very last week was particularly memorable.

On Thurs. May 28th, Dee and I performed for the Hemet High School Grad Night. They were expecting between 500 and 600 high school graduates, and we performed a 45-minute magic show for a weary and sleep-deprived crowd. The Grad Night started at 9 p.m. and ended at 4:00 a.m. the following morning. Our show started at 3:00 a.m. and although it was quite late to be starting a show, the adrenaline kicked in and we delivered a high-energy performance. The audience was much more receptive than I anticipated, and we've already been asked back to perform next year!

On Sat. May 30th, I had two shows. The first was for a private event of about 30 people at the City Club of Los Angeles. The City Club is a private club located on the 51st floor of the City National building in heart of Downtown Los Angeles. This was the second time I've done a show here in the last six months This place is beautiful with amazing views of the entire city.

My second show was in Westchester, CA for a 50th birthday party. There were about 50 people all gathered in the family room, and I performed a 45-minute show. The audience was fantastic! By coincidence I ran into a fellow performer and wonderfully entertaining balloon artist, Dennis Forel, who took the following picture.

Sunday ended with two more private shows. The first in Calabasas, CA and the second in Encino, CA. Both audiences were very similar, and at the same time, very different. Both groups consisted of about 20 people with the first group being very young people and the second group being all retirees. The nice thing about magic is that it transcends all age barriers. It's amazing to see young and old alike experience the wonder of a stealthily executed illusion.

I'm so incredibly grateful that I get to make a living as a professional magician sharing my special brand of magic, comedy, and mind reading. No two days are ever the same, and no two audiences are ever the same. It's what makes my line of work as a Los Angeles magician exhilarating!

I'm looking forward to the diverse types of engagements that June is sure to bring. If you'd like some world-class entertainment to delight your guests at your next event, please don't hesitate to give me a call.

Just Another Saturday For A Working Los Angeles Magician

Today I have three gigs with the first starting at Noon. I'll be performing at a birthday party at Bellaj Banquet Hall in Burbank, CA. Bellaj offers exquisite Mediterranean cuisine in a beautiful setting. It's definitely worth checking out if your looking for a banquet hall in Los Angeles or Burbank.

At 4:00 p.m. I'll be performing at another birthday party in Beverly Hills. This party will be held at a private home with about 80 people in attendance. I'll be performing my special brand of strolling close-up magic for all the guests.

Immediately afterward I'll be heading out to Alhambra to perform at a retirement party. Dee and I will be performing a thirty-minute stage show for about two hundred people. This will be at Almansor Court in one of their beautiful banquet halls.

This seems to be a typical Saturday for a working magician in Los Angeles. It's going to be a busy day, but I'd have it no other way!

If you're having a social event (birthday, wedding, anniversary, retirement, etc.), and would like some world-class entertainment to amaze, entertain, and delight your guests, please keep me in mind.

Review of Professional Magician Lou Serrano

private party.jpg

This past Saturday night I performed at a private event in Santa Barbara, CA. It was a 70th birthday party with about sixty people present. The guests ranged in age from early 20s to early 80s. It was a diverse group of people, and the party was hosted in a beautiful home in an exclusive gated community of Montecito.

I was booked to provide strolling close-up magic during the cocktail reception and then followed that up with a formal 30-minute show for all present. It was a fantastic experience as I was able to get to know many of the guests during the first part of the evening, and they were primed and ready to have a great time when the show started.

The entire party of sixty people gathered in the very large family room, and I couldn't have asked for a better audience. They were receptive, responsive, and enthusiastic!

One of my signature routines is a showpiece entitled Ubiquitous. It's a three phase mind-reading routine that quickly builds to a crescendo of impossibility. It's always a highlight of the show, and this audience was particularly responsive.

I love performing at private events like this as I'm able to meet and connect with the people in the audience. My client was incredibly happy. Not only with the show, but with the response from his guests as they couldn't stop taking about the show.

A couple of guests shared a few words about my performance in the accompanying video.

If you want to do something out of the ordinary for your next private or corporate event, please give me a call. I guarantee a performance your guests will rave about!

Last Minute Strolling Gig

I got a call just last night for a strolling magic gig in Fountain Valley, CA. It's for a 50th birthday surprise party at the birthday boy's home. Luckily my calendar was clear for today, and I'm looking forward to performing tonight. It's just an hour of magic for about 70 people.

I love these types of parties where everyone knows each other and get to share in the experience of magic. Much of which will be in their own hands.

These people really have no idea what's in store for them. They're about to have their minds blown (in a good way of course).

MAGIC. It's good entertainment!
